The truth about tankless water heaters is that they are scary. Jokes aside, the price tag on most of these water heaters looks so intimidating and that’s not all of it. After getting the heater, you still have to deal with installation, wiring, and God knows what else.
However, what you might not know about tankless water heaters is that they are actually worth that initial cost. Why? You might wonder.
Well, tankless water heaters might be more expensive but fact is that they are much more reliable in the long run.
First of all, tankless heaters will preserve water and energy much more efficiently than a traditional water heater with a giant tank full of water which you may or may not use completely. Also, tank water heaters will usually account for at least 30% of your electric bill and that’s not so friendly on the long run. Hence, tankless water heaters, and especially the ones that run on natural gas or propane, will easily save up to a 100$ a year on your electricity bills.
Still have some concerns? Let us look then at a few of the best Takagi tankless water heaters.

Takagi Tankless Water Heaters Reviews
Takagi T-KJr2-IN-NG Review
First on the list is Takagi T-KJr2-IN-NG which comes in two models to accommodate for both propane (Takagi T-KJr2-IN-LP) and natural gas (Takagi T-KJr2-IN-NG), depending on the user’s preference.
This tankless water heater is powerful enough to cater for a small to medium household easily. At a flow rate of 6.6 gallons per minute, the TAKAGI can handle two bathrooms in addition to your regular chores but if you imagine that it will exceed that then you’ll be disappointed.
Additionally, it’s equipped with inlet-outlet thermistors which allow you to constantly keep an eye on the temperature of the water and get the temperature you desire. However, it doesn’t come with a venting system which means you have to provide one for it and that is a pain in the back. Nevertheless, this heater has accumulated nothing but positive reviews and that’s because it is a quality product.
Lastly, the manufacturer of TAKAGI offers a 12 years long warranty on the heat exchanger, and that exhibits just how much the company trusts their product. However, you must hire a licensed professional to take care of installation for you so that the warranty stands.
Takagi T-K4-IN-LP Review
Number two on this list is another TAKAGI; only this one is considerably stronger and with great power comes great responsibility. The TAKAGI T-K4-IN-NG also comes in two models to support natural gas (Takagi T-K4-IN-NG) and propane (Takagi T-K4-IN-LP) individually to suit the user best. Moreover, this unit is strong enough to cater for a house of 3 bathrooms and the regular house chores. At a flow rate of 8.0 gallons per minute, this heater will do more than just good enough.
Also, forget about the shower Russian roulette that you have to go through whenever you need to take a shower. It’s true that it is not the biggest handicap out there but the worst thing that could happen to you is to miss the right temperature under the shower head which is why this heater has a water temperature safety control to prevent water temperature fluctuations.
Lastly, a 12 years heat exchanger warranty never harmed anyone. But not only that, this TAKAGI also offers a 5 years warranty on parts and 1 year for labour. Personally speaking, nothing indicates that a company trusts their product as much as a handsome warranty and nothing makes me want a product more than a trust worthy manufacturer.
Takagi T-H3-DV-N Review
Number three on the TAKAGI list is the T-H3-DV-N which also supports natural gas (Takagi T-H3-DV-N) and propane (Takagi T-H3-DV-P) individually. This unit right here is one of your best options out there if you’re a big house owner or if you need hot water more than regular users out there. Why is that? Well this unit has an outstanding flow rate of 10 gallons per minute, making it a heavy weight contender but here’s the thing, it is also strong enough for commercial use.
If you read the description of the unit on Amazon or on Takagi website, you’ll find it says “endless hot water” and for once it is true. This TAKAGI is robust and it will save a lot of space and at the same time keep hot water flowing into your house without ever stopping. Also, as is the case with most tankless water heaters, this one will also preserve water and energy simultaneously.
When it comes to safety, this unit exceeds most tankless water heaters out there because of its computerised safety features that will jump issues before they occur and help you avoid them. Nevertheless, that does not mean you will have 0 warranties because this unit is covered similarly to the previous unit and believe me, in most cases, users completely forget about that warranty because this is a quality brand.
Takagi T-D2-OS-LP Review
Last but not least is the TAKAGI T-D2-OS-NG but unlike the previous 3 models, this one is an outdoor tankless water heater but just like the other 3, this one also caters for natural gas (TAKAGI T-D2-OS-NG) and propane (TAKAGI T-D2-OS-LP) individually (so make sure you pick the right unit at purchase). This TAKAGI unit is just as powerful as the previous unit with a water rate flow of 10 gallons per minute but a little bit cheaper. Why is that? You might wonder. Well, let me put it this way. Power is not everything when it comes to tankless water heaters.
This unit requires a 4 inch category III stainless steel venting system which is not included with the unit but that is not a big deal. What should concern you most is where you place this unit. I mean sure it says outdoor unit but surely not in the open.
Not to worry, these units can take up to 30 degrees below 0 and work like a charm as long as they’re sheltered from the wind. So, make sure to build some sort of protection for the unit before you install it.
Another good thing about this TAKAGI tankless water heater is that it comes equipped with inlet and outlet thermistors which will allow you to keep an eye on the temperature of the water constantly. But don’t worry, you won’t have to go out there and do it then come back every time you want to check because this unit comes with a remote controller which will make it a lot easier for you.
Final Thoughts
Finally, Takagi is a strong example of great quality heaters. It is a trust worthy name and that is for a very good reason. I won’t say it’s the best or second best, I will only tell you that it will not disappoint.
We have had our Tagaki for 16 years. It still works great. Other than one problem that happened with installation, it has never had an issue. The water temp doesn’t change when flushing, using hot water in other rooms, etc. My only advice would be to make sure you take a picture of whatever part may break so that when you deal with customer service, they can’t just say the installer broke something. Customer service aside, it is a great product. 5 out of 5 stars.
